FAQ

Why does SaveTheEats exist?

During this crisis, we believe SaveTheEats can create a groundswell of awareness and financial support for local food scenes, establishments and the people who power them all, nationally.

How do I bring a SaveTheEats website to my city?

You can apply here to lead or be part of the team for your city. We look for either an operator’s or connector’s skill set to begin the city launch process. Ideally, we find a small team with both of those skills.

What does SaveTheEats offer for consumers?

A city’s website will typically contain special experiences, offers or incentives at bars and restaurants that will help the businesses re-emerge post COVID-19 in as strong a position as possible.

What’s in it for the bars and restaurants?

Immediate revenue. The small businesses in a city’s food landscape need cash flow NOW so they can support themselves and survive their coronavirus closures.

What’s in it for you (the founders)? Is this website a way to profit from the crisis?

We originally created a single site to help support the Philadelphia food scene we love. We then realized that replicating the effort with more volunteers in other cities could make a broader national impact. We are backing it with time and personal funding. We get zero financial benefit from it. We don’t touch any money. 100% of proceeds go directly to the establishments or charities listed on the city sites. Read more on the About Page here.

What can we, the customers, do to help?

You can see full list of what we need here. In short, decide if you can volunteer in your city and spread the word. If you can afford it, continue to spend money at the places you love.
